The 21.8 hectare (53.85 acre) area containing the Belfast Barracks, Woolwich Barracks and Prestatyn Barracks is in an attractive location near upscale residential areas and in the immediate vicinity of the Westerberg campus (university and technical university of Osnabrueck). There are also individual residential areas of the British Armed Forces in the Westerberg district.
